Post by: PLPfan on June 03, 2014, 12:29:57 PM
After updating to v6.7.0.63 BETA,registration status is empty/username is missing.I tried activation via online and offline key method as well, still my username doesn't appear  :(

But Username appears on previous BETA versions when activated both online and offline as well.

The problem has existed for a longer time. A year or two ago I also gave offline activation a try and activated one of my PL instances that way. I can't recall the version, but the program was behaving as if it had been activated, so the issue of my registration name not appearing in the about box was not a problem.

This bug is difference, because when OP is report this bug, I open a older beta than v6.7.0.63, and it is showing fine.
Then I update to v6.7.0.63, and it is showing just like the picture, and you can see the position of the words is difference too. :)

This is an area I'm working on.

Even if the licensed user name is empty, the product will be activated.

If the product is NOT licensed, you will definitely notice - there are 'Activate', 'Buy now', etc.. controls and menu items that aren't visible when licensed.

This is an area I'm still working on.

Oh, good. I'm glad you're aware of this issue. It's exactly what I've noticed recently. It's what I referred to as "Process Lasso's failure to acknowledge my license" or something similar. Since you're aware of it, I won't worry about it any longer.

Whew!

Thanks guys!

Yes, the About dialog needs more TLC.

I am cleaning it up a bit more prior to v6.9.1.0, which is coming.

It should look much better in v6.9.1.0.

The entirety of the licensing system needs a bit of additional maintenance, which I'm working on. I mention this because there are still a couple scenarios in which a user may see a generic activated message instead of their user name. However, most people will see their user name, and be able to change it by clicking on it (new).

Years of incremental maintenance to the UI caused these small, but visible, issues. Compounding the issues is my tendency to avoid making UI or text changes so I don't break the translations; a futile effort that only resulted in inferior and old English text.

As I proceed with massive refactoring, I'm tossing out the old and bringing in the new. Much of the UI was written over 10 years ago, you know!

Keep me on my toes and please do report any anomalies you see. I depend on users to help beta test, especially for the UI. The core engine gets lots of attention in our test beds, but less-so for the UI.
