Title: Pentium 4 HT and Dual CPUs?
Post by: arcanum on December 09, 2008, 05:57:46 AM
Hello.

Process Lasso says that i have 2 CPUs on my PC. According to Everest Home HW diagnostic program, my CPU is Pentium 4 HT 2.60ghz single CPU. Confusing, eh?

Can someone say what causes this?

Regards,

Hyper-threading was implemented by creating two virtual CPUs. So, even though your CPU is a single-core, it makes the Operating System (Windows) believe it has two cores to share threads amongst.

So, this is normal, and is the expected behavior. The Windows task manager will also show that you have two CPUs in its performance graph.
