What if I wanted to give 1 process high CPU priority, and all other processes Below Normal priority?
I can create a Profile for the 1 process, but will Pro Balance give all other processes below normal priority?

Quote from: gayreliable on December 03, 2023, 11:21:25 PMIt still uses an old engine—they didn't update from DX9 to DX11 until late 2016. This is because many of their users were still on WinXP, which doesn't support DX11, so they had to wait until they could "live without" these users if they didn't want to change their 15+ year old OS!

There are two CPU cores: one does all the physics calculations and the other does everything else (rendering), but one core does most of the work.
It's normal for the CPU to be used at most 20 to 25 percent (i7 8086K @ 5.3Ghz on all cores).
Because I only race in VR, my GPU (1080ti) rarely sees more than 45% usage.

The creators of iRacing use the standard DX11 defense, saying that the design of DX11 is what's holding it back—sure, it's not truly multi-threaded like DX12—but that's not the point. dordle
But when I play other DX11 games, like "Assetto Corsa" or "Project Cars 2," they use at least 4 cores and the GPU to its fullest, so iRacing is partly right.

So, is there anything I can do with PL to make this game run better (with the main cores doing all the work)?

Many thanks!
While it's true that DX11 isn't fully multi-threaded like DX12, the developers of iRacing argue that this is irrelevant since the architecture of DX11 is what's limiting it.

Process Lasso / Tool Process Lasso threading
Last post by ramiroflores - May 06, 2024, 11:03:50 PM
Hi everybody,

Can anyone help me adjust the Process Lasso threading tool? I'm new so I don't know about it!

Thank you in advance!

Could you guide how to configure CPU Sets in Process Lasso to ensure optimal utilization of CPU cores and threads, particularly in scenarios where applications may benefit from using all available CPU resources?

I've noticed a recent topic discussing the Bitsum Highest Performance power plan and its benefits over the default High Performance mode in https://community.bitsum.com/forum/index.php?topic=12102.0. For those who have switched to this power plan, what improvements have you observed in terms of system performance and stability, especially during CPU-intensive tasks like gaming or content creation? Are there any specific scenarios where Bitsum Highest Performance significantly outperforms the standard options?

Quote from: maruusa on April 22, 2024, 10:25:43 PMYou can try using Task Manager to block specific Xbox Game Bar processes when you're not using it. This may prevent it from interacting with CCD2 cores/threads.
Really effective suggestion. I accessed Task Manager and it was easy to resolve the issue. It was by chance that I came across the question and found the solution.

Ideally leave it open. Having said that, it definitely wouldn't be simple to do this contextually for just this one menu, which would need escaping or clicking out of all other context menus in order to remove them. I concur with this. For updates, the support program works incredibly well.

Quote from: johnpark on February 23, 2024, 07:59:19 AMI'm wondering if anyone out there is using Process Lasso to get better hit rego, FPS, etc for gaming?
In particular being able to load certain apps to certain logical cores so core 0 isn't overloaded with tasks, etc?
It's crucial to remember that Process Lasso's gaming efficacy can vary depending on a number of variables, such as the particular game, the hardware, and the system configuration. The resource requirements of different games vary, and some might already be optimized to make good use of the system resources.

I've experienced the issue of Java processes not closing after exiting Minecraft as well. It's a common annoyance for many players. A utility or script that can handle this automatically would be incredibly helpful.

The "critical" I/O priority cannot actually be applied to any process. It is reserved for system paging operations. It was removed from Process Lasso last year for this reason.

That said, anti-cheat systems can also block process access and prevent changing the I/O priority. In those cases, try setting the I/O priority rule on the game launcher host process.
