Process Lasso / Re: Default CPU Affinity
Last post by TheRealBix - Today at 10:59:35 AM
Hey, you can take a look at my rule

/^([^,]*,){2}(?!system,|registry,|memory compression,|secure system,)/
It does select everything but system, registry, etc... which cannot be moved to other cores. You can add whatever process name you want inside the brackets by following the scheme.

Put that at the bottom of your rules without the cores you want to keep for windows server (ie: 2-16 or 0-14, etc.. you decides)

I suggest you to use CPU sets instead of CPU affinities as those last aren't well received by every processes.

Process Lasso / Default CPU Affinity
Last post by mrthecomputernewb - Today at 01:03:58 AM
Hey guys! I'm currently trying to run a Minecraft server off of my computer and want to dedicate 2 threads to it and nothing else. I've figured out how to do this but in order to stop games from using them I have to open each one up and set the affinity. Is there a way so that all applications use a certain affinity by default?

Please check any security software you have installed to see if it blocked the execution of InstallHelper.exe. Otherwise, I'm not immediately sure of the cause, but we'll spend some time trying to reproduce issue.

Process Lasso Install Assistant window doesn't show up though installhelper.exe is running ( in ProcessExplorer "Properties" dialog, after I click "Bring to Front" button, it says "No visible windows found for this process"). Can't reconfigure the way Process Lasso starts.
In Safe Boot all works fine.

New rules are inserted into the beginning of lists as of v14.0.4.11 beta. This affects all features when rules are added by either the process context menu or config dialogs.

The preserve position on edit is still pending.

If you try the beta, please do let me know if you run into any trouble!

Thank you for the well-structured report!

I agree that new rules should be inserted at the top, and that the rule position after edit shouldn't change.

I've created an issue to track this and will reply again with any further news.

Quote from: processjuggler on September 09, 2014, 11:17:45 AMHello, I was wondering whether there is an install guide specifically for installing process lasso on a remote desktop server.

Will the default settings, straight out of the box, be sufficient?

I'm trying out process lasso on a RDS 2012 R2 server, we are having problems with high cpu spikes caused by Google Chrome sessions and unfortunately microsoft stripped the build in tool to manage/limit cpu resource, so have been looking for an alternative, process lasso seems to fit the bill.

I was impressed by running the pro balance demo on my laptop and iq test free to see the same results on a remote desktop server.
It's possible to use the default Process Lasso settings on an RDS 2012 R2 server, but you need to monitor and adjust them as necessary to resolve CPU spike issues.

Process Lasso / QoL - About rules priorities
Last post by TheRealBix - May 20, 2024, 03:46:56 PM
Context : I have a set of main rules that apply to almost every processes, on top of which they are manual rules I set for specific ones.

Issue : when I add a rule, it stacks to the end of the pile, where the priority is the lowest. The same applies when I edit a rule from main window by right clicking.
Be cause the newly edited rule is sent to the bottom of the pile, behind the main rule, it doesn't have any effect, I have to go to the rule panel and increase/decrease rule order manually.

Fix : Add new rules to the top and keep manually edited rules to the same position.

Current behaviour when we add or edit rules :
