Please check any security software you have installed to see if it blocked the execution of InstallHelper.exe. Otherwise, I'm not immediately sure of the cause, but we'll spend some time trying to reproduce issue.

Process Lasso Install Assistant window doesn't show up though installhelper.exe is running ( in ProcessExplorer "Properties" dialog, after I click "Bring to Front" button, it says "No visible windows found for this process"). Can't reconfigure the way Process Lasso starts.
In Safe Boot all works fine.

New rules are inserted into the beginning of lists as of v14.0.4.11 beta. This affects all features when rules are added by either the process context menu or config dialogs.

The preserve position on edit is still pending.

If you try the beta, please do let me know if you run into any trouble!

Thank you for the well-structured report!

I agree that new rules should be inserted at the top, and that the rule position after edit shouldn't change.

I've created an issue to track this and will reply again with any further news.

Quote from: processjuggler on September 09, 2014, 11:17:45 AMHello, I was wondering whether there is an install guide specifically for installing process lasso on a remote desktop server.

Will the default settings, straight out of the box, be sufficient?

I'm trying out process lasso on a RDS 2012 R2 server, we are having problems with high cpu spikes caused by Google Chrome sessions and unfortunately microsoft stripped the build in tool to manage/limit cpu resource, so have been looking for an alternative, process lasso seems to fit the bill.

I was impressed by running the pro balance demo on my laptop and iq test free to see the same results on a remote desktop server.
It's possible to use the default Process Lasso settings on an RDS 2012 R2 server, but you need to monitor and adjust them as necessary to resolve CPU spike issues.

Process Lasso / QoL - About rules priorities
Last post by TheRealBix - May 20, 2024, 03:46:56 PM
Context : I have a set of main rules that apply to almost every processes, on top of which they are manual rules I set for specific ones.

Issue : when I add a rule, it stacks to the end of the pile, where the priority is the lowest. The same applies when I edit a rule from main window by right clicking.
Be cause the newly edited rule is sent to the bottom of the pile, behind the main rule, it doesn't have any effect, I have to go to the rule panel and increase/decrease rule order manually.

Fix : Add new rules to the top and keep manually edited rules to the same position.

Current behaviour when we add or edit rules :

Desirable behaviour :

Process Lasso / Re: My E-cores makes me crazy
Last post by Manuel - May 20, 2024, 05:51:57 AM
Quote from: Jeremy Collake on May 19, 2024, 06:29:27 AMWe'd really have to dig into this to give you a certain answer. It is strange that you can't achieve close to the same results that you had when disabling E-cores at the BIOS level, but as you mentioned, Windows thread scheduling on these platforms is a mess.

What power plan (or mode) are you in? If not already, switch to a high performance plan to help dissuade Windows from making use of the E-cores. You can use ParkControl to check the heterogenous scheduling settings for the power plan.

Thank you for your helpfulness,
I would be very happy to solve this problem, and I imagine the users of my calculation software who are struggling adesse would be too. The Software house has given some pointers to try to solve the problem (link below), but we users have not been able to solve anything... maybe it only works in some cases (like Windows 10), but in my case I solve only by disabling E-cores via BIOS.

https://www.scia.net/en/support/faq/scia-engineer/other-topics/performance-scia-engineer-calculations-running-newer-types-processors

To return to your observation, I confirm that disabling E-cores via BIOS and having only P-cores used through Process Lasso or CoreDirector gives different results.

A small test I just did this morning returns these results:

13900K 8+8 P-Core + 16 E-Core (Bitsum Highest Performance):
4' 18"    (CPU consumption: 110-120W)

13900K 8+8 P-Core + 16 E-Core (Bitsum Highest Performance + CoreDirector):
4' 07"  (E-core still works... - CPU consumption: 110-120W)

13900K 8+8 P-Core + 16 E-Core (Bitsum Highest Performance + Process Lasso Pro + Forced Mode + Affinities Only E-cores):
4' 01" (E-core do not work... but they probably disrupt the analysis - CPU consumption: 110-120W)

13900K 8+8 P-Core (Bitsum Highest Performance + E-cores disable via BIOS - NO Process Lasso Pro - NO CoreDirector):
0' 26" (CPU consumption: 140-160W)

I think it's clear why I'm in danger of going crazy!!!  :o

Within a few days I will be able to do parallel testing with a Ryzen 7950x (which does not have E-cores), but as I have already written, I have also done preliminary testing with this CPU by a colleague and even then the analysis is still very slowed down.

Thanks in advance
Manuel
