Hello. So I upgraded my Windows 11 to 24H2 build 26120 and since then whenever I apply CPU Sets to any game to limit it to X3D CCD0, my CCD0 usage goes to 100% and my game freezes indefinitely, but if I don't set any CPU Sets the game runs fine. Any help with this? Before I upgraded there were not any problems like this. Thanks
Wow! As of now, I don't have an explanation. It's possible that 24H2 changed CPU Sets behavior and/or that specific game has an incompatibility. We will monitor for any similar reports and run some tests to see if we can elucidate the change.
Ok thanks. It does this in every game I tried, so I think It's Windows issue.
hi, i am also having this issue but was ok until about a month ago. anything but using both CCD's causes starcitizen to hang/crash
Hi ! 7950x3d user here and I have exact same problem - it drives me insane because the most important feature is basically broken now. Tried MSFS2024, arma reforger, squad, some other games and all of them will finally freeze at some point. Clearing CPU rules unfreezes the game instantly so it's 100% caused by it. Sometimes freezes are 1 second short, sometimes it freezes until I clear the rules. I can reproduce the problem even with clean install of windows 24h2. Please devs, stop our suffering :(
We are looking into this. For the time being, CPU affinities may be preferrable on affected games.
You may want to try disabling Windows Game Mode (https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/1jgyu9k/9950x3d_benchmarked_with_process_lasso_vs_game/), if you haven't already.
Thanks for response. I always disable game mode and uninstall game bar as a rule of thumb but my CPU started acting really strange with these stutters so I actually had to go back to driver-controlled scheduling with gamebar enabled as a workaround. I tried everything - uninstalling amd chipset stuff, windows reinstall, disabling SMT, using affinity settings instead of cpu sets but in the end, stutter of death will finally happen. I cannot find any pattern, sometimes im able to play for hours, and sometimes it freezes on the loading screen. And at this point I'm not even sure if it's a process lasso issue. Gonna do some more experimenting with lasso disabled and just affinity settings from windows task manager.
The freezes always look the same - its a bump of CCD0 usage to 100% like it's fighting with something
Are you using any software to set up CPU Kits? If so, check to see if it has been updated for the latest version of Windows 11.
