Title: Proces Lasso Boost & Efficiency
Post by: Ramesh on September 08, 2024, 09:40:53 PM
1st when I right click a game.exe I have an option for Boost. What is it?

2nd I use Bitsum Highest Performance mode always. When I check Park Control my Short Thread & Long Thread is using Prefer Performant Cores. So does turning on Efficiency Mode make any difference?

I'm on a desktop

The "Boost" submenu is Dynamic Thread Priority Boosting (https://bitsum.com/processlasso-docs/#boost), a native feature of Windows. It defaults to ON, even without Process Lasso present, and normally should remain ON. However, some users disable it for select background processes. For the moment, this option is exposed there and also in the CPU Priority submenu, though it can only be disabled in the latter.

Regarding your second question, you should still manage Efficiency Mode rules on any processes that you have reason to be concerned about. Even with "Prefer Performant Cores" there will still be threads scheduled to the E-cores.

There are way too many functions in process lasso called "boost" I'm here posting this because I just had to search through the manual a third time for the word boost for another fricking BOOST. Can we rename this to something less confusing cause oh my god

We have been aware of the potential confusion surrounding the recently added "Boost" submenu. Specifically, it is easily confused with Foreground Boosting. At the time of product release, it wasn't clear that labelling it "Dynamic Thread Priority Boosting" (the proper name by Windows) would have been an improvement. Given that this feature isn't commonly used, it's likely that we'll hide it in the "More" submenu going forward.
