Title: Use Process Lasso in conjunction with MS Interrupt Affinity Tool?
Post by: Olnium on April 29, 2025, 03:08:29 PM
Hi,

I couldn't find any reference to Interrupt Affinity in the documentation and I'm trying to fix an issue where it's been suggested that Nvidia drivers with increased DPC latency are causing delays in the processing of system audio. Setting the Interrupt Affinity of the GPU and audio interface to separate cores apparently improves performance.

Do either the free or Pro versions of PL include functionality to set Interrupt Affinity, and if not, is it recommended, discouraged, required/not required, to use the MS Interrupt Affinity Tool, available here...

...in conjunction with PL?

Process Lasso does not currently include that capability, though it has been on the radar. Microsoft's tool is fine to use, but we have no guidance on how often interrupt affinity tuning is beneficial.

Thanks, I'll give both a try and see if it helps.

While Process Lasso is excellent for process and thread affinity, it doesn't touch interrupt affinity. If you're tackling DPC latency by separating interrupt handling, the Microsoft Interrupt Affinity Policy Tool is the correct utility for that specific task, and it can be used alongside Process Lasso for overall system tuning. Just proceed with caution and diligent testing.
