I've noticed several times this year PC isn't finding or showing the current update / version.
Manually checking is made a bit more awkward by the fact the D/L page doesn't seem to show a version # or changelog.
I can get PC to open Bitsum URLs & it isn't blocked from the net, 'periodically check' is enabled, so not sure why doesn't see an update.
It also says 'no update available' when there is, when using the 'Check now' function...?

Keen observation ;).
This is due to update throttling. For non-critical updates, we throttle so that we disrupt as few users as possible. The "Check for Updates" button bypasses this throttling.
Thanks for the quick response JC ;)
You said the check routine doesn't obey throttling, so I'm curious as to why PC says no update available when using that update check feature.... or am I misinterpreting?
My apologies, you are correct. In the case of ParkControl there is throttling that the "Check for Updates" action won't bypass. This is in contrast to Process Lasso. We'll work on changing that in a future build, as it definitely does make it confusing.
Thanks for the update JC.
I can always rely on you to figure stuff out, which is why I recommend your software whenever I can. :)
QuoteI recommend your software whenever I can
I appreciate that ;).
This adjustment has been made. For all future versions of ParkControl, manual update checks will bypass any server-side throttling. This change will be first seen in update checks initiated by v5.5.1 and later. That version is slated to be released soon, which is why the current update is so heavily throttled.
Thanks for the update. Look forward to seeing the changes. ;)
