Title: Starting with affinity, delaying to remove it
Post by: zweii on March 28, 2026, 10:03:45 PM
This is a very niche problem that I've seen only 2 times: Elden Ring and Armored Core VI.

Both these games have a problem with Core 0. If you have all cores on affinity and start them, they'll badly utilize your cores. However, if you remove Core 0 from affinity, them all of them will be used better (https://imgur.com/a/CG3qxTI) (not my screenshot, this is from a user on the Special K Discord).

On CPUs that have a big amount of cores/threads, this is not an big issue, but for CPUs that have not many cores/threads, losing an entire core is not good.

Is there an option to remove affinity rule after a set amount of seconds? This way, this could be automatized.

There isn't currently, but we can probably add that pretty quickly in the next beta series. I'll reply again when there is news!
