Title: "Default Governor deployment type to system service"?
Post by: Autumner on November 07, 2020, 08:26:03 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm a bit confused about this in the v9.8.6.16 changelog (https://bitsum.com/changes/processlasso/). Is it related to the "PL Startup Options/Core Engine (Governor) Startup/Start as a service at boot" option and is this now the recommended/default? Or have I got it wrong?

Also, does forum search work? I get "An Error Has Occurred! You are not allowed to search for posts in this forum" everywhere.

Yes, that is the applicable setting. For new installs, the default governor (core engine) deployment type is as a system service. For existing installs, no change is made, and you'll see the previously chosen option selected.

The forum does have some issues. SMF, the forum software, isn't well-maintained anymore. The search never worked well, but I've now re-enabled it.

Thanks Jeremy. I've spotted this old post (https://community.bitsum.com/forum/index.php?&topic=4565.msg16481#msg16481) of yours about running the core engine as a service. Is it still valid?

No, those limitations no longer exist. An agent was added to facilitate session specific operations.
