Title: Set Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to run next boot automatically
Post by: hanemach_gt on July 09, 2013, 03:07:08 PM
Unless you use different programs for the purpose of testing RAM, here's how to set Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to run next boot automatically, so you don't have to keep pressing F8 and choose manually.

Press Win + R. A window will appear, type mdsched (stands for memory diagnose schedule, if you find it better to remember), as in the picture below:

... and click OK.

Such window will appear:

Clicking the "Restart now" option will, as it says, restart immediately, so try not to click faster than you think, else you may lose your documents or something.
The second option schedules memory diagnosing to the next boot and allows you to keep on working.

There's the TechNet article describing Windows Memory Diagnostic more closely >> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff700221.aspx (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff700221.aspx)

But remember, MS don't recommend using Windows Memory Diagnostic tool for >4GB RAM, as it is 32-bit app.
You can't test over 3.xGB via this tool. ;)

You are welcome.
And I wonder why they changed their pages(when they changed their page to Metro style) and don't say about this now, before that I saw that page is recommended Memtest86+ for testing. :)
