Title: Modifying devolo powerline wireless adapter
Post by: Camandros on February 26, 2015, 10:51:15 AM
Hi all

First of all, thank you for developing fmk, it is a great tool!

Now, I am attempting to modifiy a Devolo dLan 500 WiFi device. I obtained an update from http://update.devolo.com/linux2/apt/pool/main/d/devolo-firmware-dlan500-wifi/, (http://update.devolo.com/linux2/apt/pool/main/d/devolo-firmware-dlan500-wifi/,) extracted the bin form the .deb package and extracted the contents with fmk. So far so good.

However, I need to be careful modifying the device, so first of all I wanted to try rebuilding the update without changing it, just to see if I could. I rebuild the update using again fmk and obtained a bin with the same size but different md5sum. When I try to update the device with this "new" image, I get a message saying "The file does not contain valid data."

Can someone please help or give ideas of what I can do?

Thanks in advance

Hi all,

I kept my work on the devolo devices and I discovered that the firmware images have some sort of checksum on them, but I don't know where or how to calculate them.

Any clues?

Thanks
