I was just offered the option via pop up, to update to the beta version 8.9.8.7 x64. The thing is... I have NOT selected the option to "include beta versions".

Thanks for report, there does seem to be a issue right now with release>beta.

This should be fixed now. Certainly let me know if you don't find that to be the case.
A few minutes earlier I had made some server-side adjustments to enable updating of the alpha branch, and it looks like I inadvertently caused final->beta update notifications
This is a very safe beta at least, so should not cause anyone an issue, but I'm glad you alerted me when you did.
