Hello everyone, I recently installed Process Lasso v9.0.0.290 along with ParkControl, but I am feeling quite confused about how to use them. The interface and settings are not very clear to me, and I am unsure which options I should adjust to improve the performance and stability of my game, specifically Dota 2. I have tried searching through the forums, but most of the guides I found are for older versions of Process Lasso, so I am not certain whether those instructions still apply to the current version. As I am completely new to these tools, I would really appreciate a clear, step-by-step explanation. Thank you very much for your help.

Why are you using such an old version? You should definitely switch to a new version. Most guides will still be relevant.

Basic Setup

  • Install Process Lasso and launch it
  • Start DOTA 2 so it appears in Process Lasso's active processes list
  • Right-click on dota2.exe in the process list

Key Optimizations

CPU Priority:
  • Right-click dota2.exe → Priority Class → set to "High" (not Realtime, which can cause instability)
  • Check "Always" to make it persistent across restarts

CPU Affinity:
  • If you have a multi-core CPU, you can experiment with excluding Core 0, as Windows often uses it for background tasks
  • Right-click → CPU Affinity → deselect Core 0
  • For most systems, leaving all cores enabled works best unless you're troubleshooting specific issues

ProBalance:
  • Keep ProBalance enabled (it's on by default) — this prevents background processes from stealing CPU time during gameplay

I/O Priority:
  • Set I/O priority to "High" for dota2.exe to give it faster disk access

Additional Tips

  • Use the "Gaming Mode" or "Performance Mode" profile if available in your version
  • Add dota2.exe to the "Induce Performance Mode" list so it automatically applies your settings when the game launches
  • Consider also setting lower priority for background apps like browsers or Discord

The biggest gains usually come from the High priority setting and ensuring background processes don't interrupt your game through ProBalance.
