Hi guys,

since I upgraded to Windows 10, the menu bar in Corel X6 is messed up by displaying white text on a white background. When hovering over the text, it lights up in light grey color so you'll be able to make out what it says. You can get around this by selecting a high contrast theme in Windows, but I don't want that.

There's no official solution to this available from Corel (at least not that I've found), and clearly this is an issue with Corel not sticking to Windows standard. Of course there must be some way to "hack" this, maybe in a settings file or something. I thought this forum might be a good place to ask around. If anyone got any idea where to look for a way to edit this, please post!

Yes, by using a theme that has titlebar color. :)

And Windows 10 will support color titlebar, they has supported it in Insider build. ;)

Yep, that's the problem with all these apps that went and customized their UIs to be pretty, they now have all kinds of problems. These problems actually started in Windows 8 when desktop scaling was introduced to support new high-res displays on modern Ultrabooks and such. Many legacy apps couldn't handle this well, so had tiny little displays at the native resolution. Of course, since Process Lasso and our other products use the simple native Windows controls, everything we author 'just works'. I figure if someone wants to make things prettier, they can switch themes or use software like WindowBlinds.

One would've thought a big company like Corel would refrain from messing around with the ui like this, and stay true to Windows standard. Anyway, it is what it is now. I guess the setting is hidden in the exe or a dll file. Might be possible to edit with a hex editor, if only I knew what to look for! ;)

Nah, it's the big companies that succumb to this because it isn't the Engineers who are in charge, it's the Marketers... and the Marketers say "Give me something pretty and unique!"

Not the title bar, the menu bar!
Ok...
I mis-understanding that it will be affected by the tilebar color, because it look like similar to a titlebar, and some software really like to use titlebar as a menubar... :P

And yup, even a lot of game are hacking around the kernel, and causing them to stop working after they patched the kernel...

Here's a screenshot of what the menu bar looks like in Windows 7.
