Activate Performance Mode for Particular Uses

Is it possible to set PL to only enter performance mode while specific.exe files—mostly games—run?

Yes, that is the normal behavior.

You can set which processes induce Performance Mode at menu item 'Options / Power / Performance Mode / Performance Mode Processes...'.

If you're finding it engage for games you don't want, you can turn off the 'Enable Automatic Detection (e.g. Steam)' in that same submenu.

You can also adjust this list by right-clicking on processes and selecting 'Induce Performance Mode'.
