Hi everyone, I just downloaded Process Lasso v9.0.0.290 and Parkcontrol today, but everything is just greek to me. I don't understand which options to select and the possible things i can do in order to make my game (dota 2) run more smoothly and efficiently. I have searched the forums, but i was only able to find guides for older versions of PL, so i am not sure if certain things are the same as this current version (v9.0.0.290) of PL. I am a newbee, so a step-by-step would be great! Thank you in advance!

First off you should be using workstation version for games and user workload type applications, server version is optimized for servers (back-ground processes).
Ok, its hard to make a guide cause it so much has to do with your system specs, what your using PL for and what applications are loaded. There really way to many variables, but there is a good thing, it doesn't really matter :)

All you really need for games on a desktop system, is leave PL all default, it will handle all back ground processes automatically, keeping your game or focused foreground application with high priority by lowering the priority of the background that might use CPU% (if that doesn't make sense don't worry).

So for basic use, after you install PL, run your game, alt -tab out of it and go to PL process list, find game in list and right click on it and enable "classify as a high performance process", that it. then do this for each game or you can add them in the options>performance mode settings.
Now each time game runs it will run Bitsum HP power plan (which gives disabled core parking and highest power plan) and Probalance works in back ground as I noted above.

PL is made to work out of the box just fine, you really shouldn't need to do much "tweaking".

If you have PL installed, for a desktop Park control is not really needed for gaming, it can do other things with power plans. More important for laptops IMO, but to start out PL can cover most area's for gaming.
If you want ot find more you really need to read the FAQ page and documentation.

I concur, don't really have anything to add to Ed's response. Just remember not to start trying random tweaks to achieve marginal gains (at most). You are more likely to do harm than good. Process Lasso's ProBalance and 'Performance Mode' do everything they can out-of-the-box. Usually the only tweaking is classifying processes as 'Performance' (so they induce Performance Mode), but that is automated with Steam.... and then excluding any processes from ProBalance action *if* you see processes acted on at times you don't want them acted on.
