A few clarifications:
- Is it possible to change the custom color, including for "GPU Graphics"?
- We could be wrong, but it seems that lately, ProBalance works in "standard" mode, but ProBalance doesn't work in "performance" mode.

I had hoped nobody was actually using those custom colors so that we could kill those off, but since you asked: Yes, we'll add a custom color selection for the GPU use

ProBalance should not behave differently with respect to Performance Mode, so my guess is there is another factor. If you continue to see any unexpected behavior, do let me know and we'll try to discern the cause.

It is confirmed (again, hoping there is no misunderstanding) XD
ProBalance does not work in Performance mode.

Test performed on ProcessLasso with a complete reset to default settings.
Leaving "default" mode and launching a decompression program, ProBalance limit the executable.
Closing everything and repeating after enabling "Performance" mode, ProBalance does not limit the executable.

This also occurs when test with "Balanced" power profile, ProBalance limit
also test with "Performance" power profile, ProBalance does not work.

On all tests all cores always work at 100% full with every profile.

Do you observe the failure to act on the CPUEater tool as well? We are theorizing on this but have not yet reproduced it. Of course, when you use the per-process "Induce Performance Mode" setting that process is excluded from ProBalance, but that does not sound like the case here.

In "Performance Mode Disabled" mode with "High Performance" power profile ProBalance does not work (testlasso.exe priority does not change and remains normal)

Options changed before starting CpuEater, all tested individually several times,

For the color and improvements, always excellent.

For the sake of completeness, can you confirm if any log entries are emitted during your failing tests?

We have still not come up with any plausible theory as to how the change in power profile would impact ProBalance. The CPU thresholds are CPU Time %, not CPU Utility %, so aren't impacted by frequency scaling, and even if they were CPU Utility %, the 100% load you're testing with would blow past the thresholds under any scenario. We may have to send a debug build to get some tracing to see what the logic is doing.

I've went ahead and created the debug build. This will emit debug data for processes matching testlasso.exe or that begin with 7z (I assumed that was what you were testing with).

Use DebugView to view the output. You'll need to run it as an administrator and enable menu item "Capture > Capture Global Win32".

Thanks! This confirms the cause as the per-process CPU Time % utilization being computed differently while you are in High Performance. The difference is quite large, in fact, at <~4% in High Performance vs >~50% in Balanced. For this reason, the test process is never considered over threshold. I'd be curious to hear what Task Manager reports for the TestLasso.exe process in its "Details" view (re: not the other views that instead use CPU Utility %).

Can you please let me know your CPU model? I'm guessing an Intel? Have you customized your power plans in any significant way?

We need to study this issue further before making any adjustments. For that reason, we won't delay today's planned minor release but will begin work on this immediately.

Intel CPU should be a 13600k, my brother should have an even higher one.
The "power saving" settings are the standard Windows 11 (except for the monitor off time and hibernation, which have been removed).
If you mean Windows "task manager-details" TestLasso.exe in column CPU (total processor usage for all cores) is always the same "00" in every test.

Unfortunately, this report is still a mystery to us, but we did spend considerable time researching how it could occur. The best theory we have involves your system integrity, due to the following reasoning:

The per-process CPU use of testlasso.exe suggests something else is consuming most of the CPU cycles at the time of the test in High Performance, preventing testlasso.exe from exceeding the per-process threshold. You can see the total CPU usage at 100%, while testlasso.exe itself barely moves the needle. Your Task Manager observation of testlasso.exe CPU usage confirms it's not just Process Lasso somehow doing math wrong.

Assuming there is another actor, why it is only active in High Performance is unknown. It should also be apparent what that other actor is, yet it seems invisible.

That points to an issue with your system integrity, possibly malware hiding its CPU usage. Now, I have no evidence of that, so don't be alarmed. Still, run an offline scan with Windows Defender at the least.

Thanks for the information and advice,
to avoid any doubt, we tried it on a properly reinstalled system without internet access, but the problem persists.
It seemed to us more likely to be due to a "non-recognition" from the energy saving mode, whether manually set or activated by an .exe application rule. The settings are standard Windows and with Balanced energy profile it works but not with the other higher-performance profiles.
Unfortunately we didn't notice it right away, among the various program updates, since ProBalance didn't have to intervene that often. It's a shame for such a useful feature, but it doesn't matter.
