Automatic Performance Mode - What is this?

Hi. I'm curious what this is. It just started appearing and I can't find the option to turn it off.

I do not want, nor do I need this. Why does this application keep getting updated constantly, literally every two weeks. Process lasso is already perfect. Nothing needs to be done! Stop messing with it! How do I turn this "Automatic Performance Mode" off, and what is that?

That's not a new feature, but you can disable it via "Options / Power / Performance Mode / Automatic Game Detection (e.g. Steam)". It simply engages Performance Mode (usually BHP power plan) when games are detected.

Process Lasso has received many important new features lately and updates will continue. We make every effort to not bother users with minor updates, but you can disable update checks in the "Updates" submenu.

Appreciate the help, the wording is different than what I expected. If it had said "Performance Mode is being automatically turned on" then I wouldn't have gotten confused and posted this thread. I do want that on, I just didn't recognize it.

And you need like a long term release schedule. There's literally nothing process lasso does that needs bi weekly updates, we both know it. Ideally your users would appreciate a stable option that has fewer updates and doesn't worry them with stability problems or updates messing with their config. As a paying customer I would be happy with 2 updates a year max.

It's not that I don't want updates, I just want one that's been baked in longer than 2 weeks, know what I mean?

I hear you and maintaining an optimal release schedule is a responsibility we take very seriously. However, the feature additions are often time-sensitive and wouldn't be relevant 6 months later. The normal release cadence over the last few years has been every 3 weeks, and that works well for us to bring pertinent new features. The last month we did get off cadence a little, but not every update is pushed to all users, and we use update throttling to reduce notifications.

Process Lasso has not had stability or config migration problems in memory, so you're generally OK staying with any older version you're happy with. For now, your best bet is to reduce update check frequency or manually check once and a while.

All that said, we'll consider maintaining a separate long-term branch for users like yourself who are fine with the current feature set.
