Updated automatically to version 6.7.034 ?

Hi, I wanted to check how it is possible that automatic update got version 6.7.0.34 when the official version is 6.7.0.28 and beta is at 6.7.0.31 as far  as I could check.

When I checked my update settings beta was not even checked.

I guess it can be server issues, that it get the installer file for updater is 6.7.0.34. , not 6.7.0.28...

It could have been kind of typo, I guess. What I would recommend you do is for you not to care much about these numbers (especially betas) until a description in the change log is issued. From what I remember, I was shown an auto-update window saying about .34, but now as I manually choose to check for updates it says .33b.

Sometimes, on rare occasions, I feel it necessary to issue a new build, but not push out updates right away. Normally this happens when there are minor changes I'd like to immediately publish, but know there is a new version coming within a week. This is one of those cases. I know it causes confusion, so I try to avoid doing this, but did do so this week.

On a different topic, as I am Dutch (from the Netherlands) and there is no translation yet as far as I could see, I will study the procedure for translation and perhaps if I feel secure enough will send my best effort

Yes, one of the negative side effects of being obsessive with my work is that sometimes I simply *must* publish a change/fix, no matter how minor, in order for me to sleep at night. These silent updates let me do so without annoying the crap out of everyone with endless update notifications ;p.

lol, and yup, a little off-topic.

For Notepad++, they will delay a week for the updater to receive the update, to make sure it is really stable.
And for people that like to always using the latest version but not asking for stability, they will know the update by using another Software Manager, and become the tester for release.

As usual, Auto-updater will be triggered in 1 weeks if there's no critical bug found.

Abouth the translation; I noticed some other fellar/gal has taken up this challenge so I better stay out of it, as translation may not necessarily improve if more peeps are involved unsynchronised.
Besides it's friday and its past 17:00 so its time to see my good friend Cheap Red (Wine) and chill.

@Immortal: I don't think whoever has worked on the Dutch translation is still active. Also, I do have a commission program to help compensate translators and encourage you to keep them up to date. All Bitsum Lasso home sales within select Dutch speaking regions would be credited to you for a percentage.

I guess you can doing something like this.

For user that don't tick "include beta update", they will get the new release version after a few days.
For user that ticked "include beta update", they will get the new release version after it is released, if there are no new beta.

Then the user that love to get newest release version after it is released, but he don't tick the "include beta update", can go to the website and download it manually.
If we don't think that(letting user to download and install it manually) is a issues, then the only issues is how many days it need to push to the updater.

Cheers for the idea of a commission program. It is very encouraging getting a good old bonus offered for something one can contribute to an excellent piece of software and I would not be much of a Dutchman when I would not seize the opportunity with my grubby hands  but no worries I first need to deliver something worthwhile

When I had a look-see at the translated work of my predecessor I stumbled on his/her translation of "core engine" Since I speak also German (married to one, sorry about that, just don’t mention the war ) and a bit of French, I looked at their translations too.

I would not be happy to translate "core engine" as literally as these persons have done (Basically they say it is a Central  or Main Motor, which can be interpreteted as a machine), specially since the definition of a software engine is quite ambiguous still, according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_engine

So personally, since translation needs to clarify rather than mystify, I would suggest to leave this un translated since the definition "the main computer program that outputs source code or mark-up code that becomes the input to another computer process" is quite a mouthful in any language, except perhaps in Eskimo where it suffices to use and I happily translate it for ya "polar bear excrements" (yes I speak Inuit too).... OK I lied


I would not mind to share more thoughts on this and other matters I have when translating, but feel this should not go in a section for the general public as it might bore the f*ck out of 'm. Excuse my French.

Ya, Translate is a very hard works for keeping the same meaning, or even better.
Anything about communication is hard, just look at the WiFi signal.
