I don't know if it is possible, But, I like the interface and all the information that Process lasso shows. Would it be possible  to have an option to replace windows task manager with PL?

It is possible, as Process Explorer has this feature, but I think some anti-virus that scan the registry will try to repair/undo the registry value, and many customer always keep Process Lasso running in the Tray.
But it should be easy to supported without require a lot of resource. :)

As a user of process lasso over the years Ive watched it evolve and wonder why it doesn't sell itself as the best task manager available as well as the best cpu utilization manager?.It has all the ingredients to be the best task manager in terms of stability and looks.Ive used avir ,iarsn, process explorer, process hacker ,system explorer, whats running, etc and todays process lasso could easily surpass them all.It already shows most of the items the others do ,like handles, threads ,etc. But for some unknown reason it DOESNT show all processes. For example Agnitum outposts acs.exe is shown on every task manager (including windows) that ive used...some over 5 years old,but PL doesnt or cant show the process?.Even when agnitum outposts self defence is off ,it STILL doesn't show the process. All the others show the process even when self defence is on.Is it possible for process lasso to show these processes and perhaps sell itself as the best task manger too?

Hi , Yes this request has been made by many over the years.

The thing is  the way PL interacts with the processes dynamically , there are some that can't be affected so there black listed . Mostly AV app processes but not solely.
Not sure if there is a way to show them but not interact with them in any way (I think not but not 100% on that ).

That said there nothing stopping you from using PL as a task-manager expect for few processes that won't be listed.

Thanks for the heads up.It seems it might be possible. For me a task manager that doesn't/cant show all processes is useless in that capacity.I'm hoping Jeremy can maybe improve on its processes (hidden or protected)capability ,for viewing and termination

And I wonder did they(Anti-virus) are working fine with other popular task manager, it seen like normally it is causing the logging and self-defend of the anti-virus and causing slow down, maybe I should take a look on it too. ;)
(it is hard for me because of my Anti-virus is focus on lightweight)

The issue with 'hidden' processes is that these security processes are so sensitive to being accessed, even with read-only writes, that they trigger repetitive and never-ending 'intrusion detection events' in the security software. Naturally, the logging of these events in all security suites I've seen so far is not very intelligent with regards to throttling of these events, or de-duplication.

As for further complimenting Lasso's functionality with more Task Manager capabilities, and the separate issue of allowing Process Lasso to take over the as the default Task Manager: These are both things I will absolutely consider going forward.

Thanks guys

I'm not sure that would be an issue ,as most security software with self protection ,has application exclusion lists for just that purpose.I would think for PL to become a player as a task manager (which would be great) it would need to display the type of processes ,that process explorer ,process hacker and even windows task manager already can.I could see why there may be a problem ,throttling some of the protected processes, but i cant understand why displaying the processes would be so hard when others can currently do so.Currently PL on my machine states 58 processes as running but only 54 are shown in top pane.,so i guess PL already knows there's hidden processes there but doesn't display or name them?Windows task manger states same amount of processes and actually shows them

I would like to see this happen too. Would be very useful.

I will add it to the list of v9 things to do before release and we'll hope it makes it in, but I will get to it absolutely.

Note that in the interim you can configure a keyboard Shortcut for ProcessLassoLauncher.exe in the Shortcut properties.
