Hi,
I have an old PC dual-core laptop(2 cores, 4 logical processors) with Windows 11.
Some processes causes a lag(spikes), like:
searchhost
searchfilterhost
officeclickandrun
widgets
widgetsservice
SystemSettings
etc..
To minimize above processes lags(spikes), which method is the best to "tame" them down.
- set above processes to always use "efficient mode"
- set priority to below normal
- change affinity during restraint(and reduce CPU affinity by one randomly selected processor enabled)
- change affinity during restraint(ONLY change CPU affinity, not priority)
- set above processes to use logical(hyper threaded) processors

I'd probably leave them alone and let ProBalance handle them as necessary.

However, if anything, set a Below Normal priority class on them.

Other actions have less predictable results, but may be fine, or even optimal in your case, I just can't say for certain.

Thanks for the reply,
For testing purposes, i set them to always use "efficiency mode" to see how it goes.
Maybe later i test Below Normal. I just want to make my old laptop as much responsive as i could. Those processes sometimes eats my precious CPU cycles too much.  :)
