Process Lasso / Re: Affinity Statistics
Last post by Autumner - November 18, 2024, 04:33:06 AM
I'll just add here that it'd be great for PL to provide general statistics on:

1. CPU avg (so we can know the most CPU-intensive processes)
2. Disk usage
3. RAM usage

Ideally, we'd have 1-day, 7-day and 30-day (or even custom) time-frames. Just a thought anyway, since PL already does some statistics. There are probably specific tools for this job out there already, I'm guessing.

High Priority: For fluid frames per second, set games to "High" or "Above Normal" priority.

Process Lasso / Looking for a fun online game

Hi everyone, Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I may need your help. I have a nice CPU, Intel i5 13500, and GPU, 4070.

Maplestory, an ancient game I play, uses RAM, CPU, and other hardware. I think AMD and older Intel 12 and 13 generation processors function better with the game.

Could you help me disable cores or provide me any tips? You may construct the game CPU to work like an AMD X3D or vintage Intel CPUs if you can afford it.

By assigning specific applications to certain logical cores, you can help reduce the load on core 0, which is often heavily utilized. This can lead to improved hit rates and frame rates during gameplay, as it allows the CPU to manage resources more efficiently.

Process Lasso's features, such as priority boosting and core affinity adjustments, can help ensure that your games run smoother by preventing background processes from interfering with your gaming performance. Have you tried using it, or are you considering it?

You're right, I do use it and it maximizes my in-game performance and frees up other memory that can be freed up. It's a good choice for gamers looking to improve performance and minimize background process interference :D

hi all,
my end goal is to access the firmware of my inverter in order to change certain values.
there is a usb port on the inverter and the owners manual states the driver for ch341t need to be installed to communicate with the inverter.
my level of computer literacy is so low I cannot find my way thru the info I find online regarding ch341t.
I've done what I could to "activate"/install ch341 onto my Linux machine but my understanding is it's already installed. yet when I connect the inverter to my laptop with usb I cannot seem to find the thing, although it is there when I type in "lsusb" in the terminal.
what's next?
I really appreciate any help.

Modern Intel CPUs, particularly the 13th Gen and above, have aggressive power-saving features that dynamically scale clock speeds and core usage based on the workload. If PL is interfering with these settings by forcing a high-performance profile (or disabling power-saving states), it might result in higher temperatures and power consumption but without a proportional performance gain.
